Individualized care is the key to success in cosmetic plastic surgery. The wealth of information available to patients trying to make a decision about plastic surgery can be confusing and sometimes overwhelming. Conflicting opinions can heighten the frustration of patients trying to make the right choice. Dr. Carman personally consults with each patient. He listens to their goals, hopes, concerns and fears and formulates a surgical plan that will provide the most successful outcome with the least risk. Dr. Carman will explain the reasons for his decision and outline the details of the surgical experience. If surgery is not the best idea to correct a problem, Dr. Carman will make non operative recommendations. If patients seek a surgical procedure which he feels is not appropriate, he will explain how he arrived at his decision and suggest alternative ideas. All surgical planning is made with the patients’ best interest in mind. Dr. Carman has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada in Plastic Surgery since 1982 and is the past Director of the Scarborough General Hospital Burn Unit. He is a member of The Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, The Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, The American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Scarborough Hospital Surgical Society.
